PRESENTS---

FRIDAY WAS WRECK-FEST CENTRAL AT STAFFORD

June 22, Westfield, MA--- If I were to describe this past Friday’s racing action at Stafford Motor Speedway in only two words they would be ‘demolition derby’.  Yes, all the division excluding the SK Lights were crashing and banging into each other like crazy.

In the SK Modifieds, the lead change hands multiple times throughout the feature event.  The first to lead was Chris Jones.  But behind him the field was extremely racy early.  Quietly moving up and keeping out of trouble was Keith Rocco.  Rocco was able avoid all the spin outs by leaders and mid-pack drivers, and take down the win.

After watching the SK’s run their feature, I couldn’t help but wonder if the drivers had forgotten how to actually race.  Throughout the entire race I saw more black and yellow flags than actual racing.

In the Late Models, it was better than the SK’s in the sense of caution flags, but the fact of the matter was that there wasn’t much happening.  Taking the lead at the drop of the green was Scott Cook.  Cook wasn’t able to hold the lead for long due to the fact Corey Hutchings was right there.  Then Hutchings had problems and that gave Dillon Moltz the lead and the win.

The SK Lights ran the best feature of the evening.  Taking an early lead was Harry Wheeler as the rest of the field was racing side by side.  But the two drivers that were of main focus were Alan Provost and Chris Matthews.  Both bided their time throughout majority of the race.  But when it came time to put the pedal to the metal both men were out front, swapping paint, as they raced for the checkered flag, with Matthews winning by inches.

In the Limited Late Models it was Bill Dunn visiting victory lane and in the D.A.R.E Stocks it was Scott Roy first across the line.
