PRESENTS---

Ted Christopher Makes Friday the 13th Lucky

June 14, Westfield, MA--- Finally, Stafford Motor Speedway was able to get every division in before curfew and before Mother Nature took a swing at them. Hopefully we will have more nights like this over the rest of the season.

The big news of the night was the 100-lap SK Modified race won by the 2007 division champion Ted Christopher, his 100 win at Stafford.

When the green flew for the 35th annual Coors Lite 100 it was Doug Coby taking command of the field.  But for Coby, holding down the lead didn’t last very long.  Taking the lead from him was Todd Owen.  Quietly making his way through the field was Christopher.  As the laps ticked off the field started to string out around the famed half mile.  After a lap 38 caution though, it was Christopher jumping into the lead.  Once in the lead Christopher never looked back.

After the win, Christopher did all he could to keep his tears and crackling voice away from everyone in attendance.  He also acknowledged the fans by stating, “Love me or hate me, they still come to see me.”

I have to say, I was very honored to be at the track for this historic event.  Now that I feel is something to brag about.

In the first of two Late Model features, it was Michael Bennett taking the lead on the initial start.  But due to a restart on lap two, Bennett lost the lead to Tommy Fearn.  But Fearn wasn’t able to pull away from the field.  Bennett was able to regain the lead at lap four.  When the checkers flew it was Bennett taking down the first feature win for the Late Models.

In the second thirty lap Late Model feature event Tom Fearn took the early lead but by lap two is was ‘Thrillin’ Dillon Moltz at the point..  Once in the lead, Moltz just kept flexing his muscle, showing the field and the fans what he is made of.  And as the race went on, he just kept getting stronger and he went on to take the checkered flag.

In the SK Light Division feature Jay Goff jetted into the lead.  Right behind him battling for second was Heather DesRochers and Alan Provost but a lap one caution it changed everything.  DesRochers became the new leader with Provost hot on her trail.  DesRochers wasn’t able to hold on to the lead and Provost quickly got around her and started to pull away from the field.  After a brief red flag and a few cautions, Alan went on to take down his first win of the season.

In the Limited Late Models it was Sean Foster taking down the win and in the D.A.R.E Stocks it was Bill Dunn visiting victory lane.

Next week is the 8th annual Summer Blast-off with a five division in action plus a multi-media fireworks display.
