PRESENT---

September 1, Westfield, MA--- Well it was back to normal, at least for the most part. What I mean by that, is the SK’s were back to beating and banging on each other.

In the SK’s it was the #6 of Wade Mattesen jumping to a quick and slim lead. Mattesen though wasn’t able to hold down the lead for long. Willie Hardie in the #7 took the lead from him on that very first lap. As those two sorted out the lead everyone else was battling two by two. One driver that was on a roll early was the #13 of Ted Christopher. But Christopher wasn’t the driver I was more concerned about. It was Woody Pitkat in the #52 machine, who was running ninth on lap six. Then on lap seven the first of nine cautions came out. Getting the better jump was Christopher. Hardie though didn’t give up all to easy. Hardie did all he could to get back around Christopher. Christopher saw no challenge and started to walk away from the field. As the race went on Pitkat was moving up and Christopher just kept walking away. By lap eighteen the field had become single file racing. On lap twenty two the caution flag flew again. But that wasn’t the main focus. Pitkat was black flagg ed for over aggression. So that set up a completely different race. After many more cautions it was Ted Christopher taking down the win.

With this win Christopher broke Pitkat’s winning streak. Pitkat though ended up finishing third.

Personally I was glad to see a different winner for the SK’s. When I see one person dominate so much I can’t help but wonder what was wrong with the rest of the field or what is this driver doing differently.

And on another side note, this race took almost one hour.

The Late Model feature showed that they have a lot of hard chargers in the field. Taking a very slim lead was the #4 of Tom Butler. That didn’t last to long because the #64 of Michael Bennett took it in less than one lap. Once Bennett was in the lead he started to walk away from the field. The main reason Bennett was able to pull away was because the field was battling side by side. On lap twelve the first caution flag flew, which put the #48 of Woody Pitkat right beside Bennett on the restart. For one lap after the restart Pitkat and Bennett were drag racing for the lead. Bennett was able hold off Pitkat. With that happening Pitkat fell to the third position. Moving up to the second position was the #90 if Corey Hutchings. Hutchings was on a mission. It took him from lap twelve to lap twenty to get the lead. When all was said and done it was Corey Hutchings took down the win. Also having a strong run was sixteen year old Dillon Moltz.

Unlike the other divisions the SK Lights saw the #9 of David Webb jump to a big lead at the drop of the green flag. But the car that was on a mission was the #23 of Alan Provost. Webb though had to try and get that lead back because the caution flag flew on the first lap. When the green came back out Webb still lead. The main focus though was from mid pack on, due to all the challenges. Back up front Provost, being the calm driver that he is kept going for the lead. He was finally able to take it on a lap seven restart. As the race went on it looked like Provost was going to take down his second career win in an SK Light.

But do to some foolish driving by Glen Reen in the #17, Provost was taken out. Reen ended up taking out the top four cars. When the race was over it was the #16 of Josh Sylvester taking down the win.

In the Limited Late Models it was Josh Sylvester in the #16 taking down the win.

Lastly in the D.A.R.E Stocks it was the #13 of “Smokey” Jim Brice visiting victory lane.
