In the Late Models it was the #77 of Ed Ricard taking the lead early on but that didn’t last long due to the caution flag coming out for an accident on the track. When the green came back out it was still Ricard leading, but this time he was challenged by the #99 of Scott Cook and the #48 of Woody Pitkat. Theses three drivers battled for three laps before Pitkat settling into the lead. After that the battles were from third back. Quietly making his presence known was the #17 of Jim Peterson. Peterson was doing well until him and the #3 of Ryan Posocco tangled and brought out the yellow flag. After the caution the field went green flag racing until the checkers flew. Doubling up on feature wins Friday was Woody Pitkat.
The SK Lights I believe put on the best Modified racing Friday. But you can say that every week that the Lights are my favorite Modified class to watch. After one bad start and a caution before the completion of the first lap it was the #4 of Fred Nees Jr. Falling into the second position was the #16 of Josh Sylvester. Your probably wondering why I mention Sylvester when he wasn’t challenging Nees for the lead. That’s because on the first lap the yellow was brought out by Nees. Quietly sitting in the fourth position was the #23 of Alan Provost, who got his first podium finish last week. When the green flag came back out it Provost was on a mission, he went from fourth to second in less than one lap. Even though the field was single file racing, Provost was doing all that he could to get around Sylvester. On lap thirteen Provost finally got past Sylvester. Provost though didn’t have an easy time once he was in the lead. He constantly had someone on his tail trying to get around him. When the checkered flag flew it was Alan Provost taking down his first feature win in a SK Light Modified and on pavement. And if you have been keeping up with my columns you would know that Alan started off at my home track of Whip City Speedway.
" We got this running good, I got all my sponsors,” Alan said tiredly after his win.
In the Limited Late Models it was Sean Foster taking down the win.
And rounding out the night again was the D.A.R.E Stock and the winner was the #25 of Matt Chiarizio.
