PITKAT'S
WIN WINDS UP SIZZLER WEEKEND
April 27, Stafford Springs, CT--- The 30-lap Late Model feature was the final race of Spring Sizzler Weekend, as the green came out at 4:45pm as 27 cars took to the track. David Wray was on the pole, followed by Wayne Coury, Mike Quintiliano, Duane Noll, and Ryan Posocco. 2007 Champion Corey Hutchings started 14th. Coury took the lead, followed by Wray, Noll, Thomas Butler, and Quintiliano. Several cars getting together in turn two brought out the first caution on lap 2. At the green, it was Coury, Wray, Butler, Noll, and Quintiliano. Butler got underneath Wray in turn 3, and made the pass going down the backstretch on lap 4. On lap 8, Joe Reszutek got under Quintiliano for 5th. By lap 10, the top five were Coury, Butler, Quintiliano, Posocco, and Cliff Stakey. A wreck in turn one brought out the next yellow on lap 11. As the action continued, it only took one more lap until another caution came out. When the green finally came out at the halfway point, it was Coury, Butler, Stakey, Quintiliano, and Woody Pitkat. That only lasted until lap 17, as the yellow came out for a spin. And another yellow on lap 18. These racers were having a difficult time keeping their wheels straight before a very big crowd. Hoping their game of Bumper Cars were over, they tried to take the green again. Butler took the lead, with Pitkat 2nd, Quintiliano 3rd, Posocco 4th, and Scott Cook 5th. Meanwhile Coury had drifted back, trying to stay in the top ten. On lap 22, Pitkat stuck his nose under Butler, and took the lead, with Quintiliano 2nd, Posocco 3rd, Butler 4th, and Scott 5th. Although Quintiliano was right on the bumper of Pitkat, he really couldn't make a serious challenge, as Woody Pitkat took his first Late Model checker of the season. Woody took the win, followed by Quintiliano, Posocco, Butler, Scott 5th, James Mavlouganes 6th, Duane Noll 7th, Brian Chapin 8th, Dillon Moltz 9th, and Mark St. Hilaire 10th.
